MY god! I can't believe I missed this post! Just reading it got my blood boiling, but thankfully, all went well. It would have been a most difficult task for me to stand up to it anyway, as I am a huge proponent of states rights. For me to stand up and say that federal policy supercedes state policy would be in direct contrast to what I believe in. I believe that this war will be one on a state by state basis, without federal backing. We as states of the union have a right to enact and enforce our own laws, as we here in California did back in 1996 with our 215 initiative which is now Ca health and safety code 11362.5. This is still holding strong despite repeated attempts by the government to supercede it. Our next goal will be to force the supreme court here in california to allow for a medical marijuana defense within california courthouses under federal jurisdiction. That will break the bank, the U.S. government will then have a difficult time prosecuting these cases here, and precedent setting cases will increase on a federal level. It wont mean the end to the war on pot patients here, but it would sure enable victory against the feds on their own turf.
