Well, "spanking" or hitting your child is illegal in Britiain, and to be honest, my opinion (although I am not a parent) is that violence breeds violence and that hitting a children is the worst thing you can do as a parent. My dad used to smack me as a kid (every now and then) and to this day I resent him for it, so if I did the same thing to my son or daughter, I would be effectively hitting myself (confusing, huh).

What is "spanking" exactly? All I can picture in my head is a boy over somones knee getting slapped on the ass. I mean, is there a particular measuement of the force created in a "spanking"?
