Wassup all.
I was sorting through all my YaHooka posts dating to June 2002, when I began posting. Throughout that summer, I posted on many YaHooka forums, but since then I've been posting on Activism & Politics about 99% of the time, hence I'm putting this thread in this forum, though I might link to it from elsewhere.
I've been in a bit of limbo with what to do with my life; at the moment the world is my oyster. Anyway, looking at one of these posts from the summer of '02, I was surprised to be reminded that the idea of Vancouver was at the back of my mind as long ago as then. I think this was around the time when Vancouver was rated world's No. 1 Cannabis town by High Times. Even before I ever used cannabis for the first time, I had heard many awesome things about Vancouver from a few people with whom I had gone to school in London (UK). After all, it's got coast, mountains, bay, liberal, and more specifically, cannabis culture tolerant!
It's interesting. I actually was a politically indifferent person until I started indulging the reefer. As a musician, I was always told to vote democrat because they support the National Endowment for the Arts, whereas republicans don't. But that was the extent of my political awareness. It was my disgust with the cannabis laws that awoke me to the corruption of politics in general. Of course with this administration, I've had alot to keep me busy.
Also, I think that ironically, it was because I was a "late bloomer" and didn't get high until I was 22, that I got all the more outraged over the laws. I had successfully been brainwashed all those years. I had really believed marijuana was a dangerous drug. I had been forced to pledge allegiance to that flag every morning at school. I had been so indoctrinated how free I was, yet when I took my friend to court for a possession charge, there were about 20 other people there for that same charge, just one morning in a year of three hundred and sixty-five! In addition to a $100 fine, everyone's driver's license was suspended six months! WTF???? The "crime" had nothing to do with driving! And Ohio is supposed to be the lightest state? Is this the freedom we're giving the people of Iraq?
Anyway, I digress. I finally scraped the money for a round-trip ticket to Vancouver. My dad, a Pakistani fella, has some once-removed (maybe twice?) relatives who live in Vancouver, people he hadn't talked to in about 20 years until the other day. I'll be staying with them, though as I understand it, they're pretty devout muslims in the traditional sense, so I'll have to keep politics, etc. to myself... though I'm in for some great curries!
My dates of stay will be July 23-August 7. If any YaHookan Vancouverites are reading this, I'm all about wanting to meet you. I have met people on here before, most notably Governor in Denver; I stayed with him as a matter of fact, so he can confirm who I say I am, and remember, he's a Mod. I know Patriot also. I am a symphonic musician and teacher with a passion for cannabis activism, and more recently, 9/11 Truth activism. If you're interested, PM me.
Vancouver BC here I come...
