Tandy’s Lies Destroy Innocent American Lives

Researchers at the University of California (UCLA) School of Medicine have announced the results of an 8 - year study into the effects of long-term cannabis smoking on the lungs. In Volume 155 of the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Dr. D.P. Tashkin reported: "Findings from the present long-term, follow-up study of heavy, habitual marijuana smokers argue against the concept that continuing heavy use of marijuana is a significant risk factor for the development of [chronic lung disease. ..Neither the continuing nor the intermittent marijuana smokers exhibited any significantly different rates of decline in [lung function as compared with those individuals who never smoked
marijuana. Researchers added: "No differences were noted between even quite heavy marijuana smoking and non-smoking of marijuana."

Marijuana Less Cancerous Than Tobacco

Pot Smoke: Less Carcinogenic Than Tobacco?

Cannabis in Costa Rica:
A Study of Chronic Marijuana Use; Institute of Human Issues.
"Users in our matched-pair sample smoked marijuana in addition to as many tobacco cigarettes as did their matched non-using pairs. Yet their small airways were, if anything, a bit healthier than their matches. We must tentatively conclude either that marijuana has no harmful effect on such passages or that it actually offers some slight protection against harmful effects of tobacco smoke"

Pot Less of a Cancer Risk Than Tobacco

More DEAth side tracking and avoiding reality. Tobacco “products” contain hundreds of deadly chemicals that when ignited and sucked into lungs cause harmful damage. Chemicals not added to Ganja. Ganja is a known expectorant, used in cough medications throughout Europe and America until the reefer madness fascism of the 1930’s. Also as a capillary dilator it can help open bronchial passages restricted by tobacco. That is unless you choose not to smoke. Ingestion can be done in food, liquid extraction's or bang drinks and with atomizers. No excuses! Just another red herring and hobgoblins to maintain profits perpetuating the Ganjawar. KP Tandy should be ashamed and if any of the DEAth mongers had souls they probably would be... DdC

Psychosis, Hype And Baloney

The Kaiser Permanente study
"Marijuana Use and Mortality" April 1997 American Journal of Public Health". "Relatively few adverse clinical effects from the chronic use of marijuana have been documented in humans. However, the criminalization of marijuana use may itself be a health hazard, since it may expose the users to violence
and criminal activity."

100 YEARS OF "JUST SAY NO" VERSUS "JUST SAY KNOW"
Reevaluating Drug Education Goals for the Coming Century
by Jerome E. Beck, Dr. P.H.

A particularly notorious example of this was the time Anslinger began to issue frequent press releases in 1935 that documented the horrible crimes committed by marijuana-intoxicated youth and/or addicts. With headlines announcing "The New Narcotic Menace" and the "Crusade Against Marijuana," articles that contained remarkably similar accounts appeared in major newspapers and national magazines. This was hardly surprising, in that mainstream media relied almost solely on the Federal Bureau of Narcotics (FBN) for their facts, figures, and requisite horror stories (Becker 1963). The success of Anslinger’s efforts in this particular instance was found in the smooth passage of the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937 by Congress (Dickson 1968; Morgan 1981)

"... as a multipurpose plant, ganga is used medicinally, even by non-smokers. ....There were no indications of organic brain damage or chromosome damage among smokers and no significant clinical psychiatric,

"No impairment of physiological, sensory and perceptual performance, tests of concept formation, abstracting ability, and cognitive style, and tests of memory" "[Cannabis smoking] does not lead directly to mental or physical deterioration... Those who have consumed marijuana for a period of years showed no mental or physical deterioration which may be attributed to the drug."

A Focus on Underage Drinking
Our nation would face a public health nightmare if we had just as many illegal drug users as alcohol users. An important lesson on supply and demand ran in today's Washington Post after a local summit on underage drinking. The bottom line: the more expensive drugs are for users, the less likely they are to use or to begin using...

"There is a wealth of research that demonstrates that young people among all consumers are responsive to price," Hacker said in an interview. "Higher taxes and higher prices depress demand."

Drug Czar Discusses Random Drug Testing
and Harms of Marijuana During Visit to San Francisco
Director Walters discussed the benefits of random drug testing during a keynote speech to the National Student Assistance Association today in San Francisco. During numerous media interviews throughout the day, the Director noted that random drug testing of students is a non-punative, confidential, and effective way to deter drug use among high school students.
