I think one should examine his believes and find out if the teachings when applied to everyday life are really the right ones for him, you cant just accept something as right or wrong just coz the head of your religion said so. If there is a god he gave you inteligence and the ability to reson things out for a reson, and not to believe blindly what u ve been taught.
And maybe this god would prefer u to praise him by showing love and compassion towards other beings with your everyday deeds, rather than saying "praise u lord" each time u move a muscle.
