yep.. that them coming up from laying eggs in your soil. fungus gnats can/will kill your plants. not the flies themselves, but from the larva eating your roots.

there are lots of ways to dick around with them, but ime they're immune to most pesticides.. like No Pest Strips and pyrithium based sprays.. and those only treat the adults anyway. you can also use dichotomous sand, but that didn't stop mine.

i would go straight to a Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti) product like 'mosquito dunks' or Gnatrol. Bti is a larvicide that is derived.. i believe.. from a naturally occuring bacteria. once they ingests it, it paralyzes the larvae, which stop feeding immediately and die - usually within 24 hours. it is also totally nontoxic to people, pets and the environment.

just mix w/water and water your plants. but if you get the dunks, you have to disolve them first.
