After 30 years of experimental outdoor growing I have developed a modified guerrilla technique that works for me. It involves dryland farming techniques.
I select a hollow with super good soil, clear the brush and work the soil to at least 12". The trick is to work it at certain times of the year and conserve the moisture from rainfall. I go in in April and plant see directly in moist soil and I don't return untill male pulling time. The plants don't require any additional water and other wild plants come up and naturalize the area. I only have one patch this year, I need to have backup patches because there is always the chance of discovery or depredation of some sort.
