I`ve cycled fixed wheel , back pedal brake, hub gears, derailleur. Derailleur wins hands down but you get special manly points for trying to keep up with derailleur down hills with fixed gears. Good for wheelies as well cos you don`t have to use the brake for control.
Props SSD cycling is part of the solution to today`s ills, more power to your legs.
