Because he makes no effort and expresses no desire to contribute to society. I don't dislike him, in fact he was my only friend for a while in real life.

I am not to judge whether I am better than him. It is frustrating however, as I feel guilty about the lack of contributions I have made in society. From the things he has said, he doesn't feel guilty at all, and lives only to pleasure himself. I refuse to acknowledge that as an acceptable trait.
