Thepizzaguys New Grow Log Summary:

11-12-08

I started 10 White Widow seeds from my own stash. 8 of 10 germinated 1 died before it was established. Plants were vegged for 3 weeks.

12-08-08

All plants in flower box are female giving me 4 total. I also germinated 5 of 7 ICE seeds which were vegged for 3 weeks, and germinated 2 Mazar seeds for 2 weeks.

1-13-09 Pollinated one of 3 ICE plant with male from same strain.

1-16-09 2 Mazar I Shariff plants showed female. Giving me a total of 9 flowering plants.

1-24-09 Harvest 1st White Widow and put all flowering plants into same large flowering area.

1-31-09 Harvest 2nd of 4 White Widow

2-7-09 Harvested 3rd of 4 White Widow. Germinated 8 NRS Aurora Indica. Aurora Indica is a cross of NL#5 and Afghani. Call it a Northern Lights knock off if you like.

2-13-09 Harvested last of the White Widow. I have 28 grams of dry buds left from 3 plants. Way less than it looks visually. 5 Aurora Indica seeds popped 3 more to go.

2-14-09 Pulled the plug in the AI. 5 seedlings will have to do. Planted 3 Master Kush. Couldn't get them to flower last time, they just kept growing and growing and growing.

Next expected harvest: ICE 3-10-09.

Along the way this attempt at a continuous perpetual harvest saw many light accidents and burnt leaves. It came to a head where I was seeing perpetual light issues. Problems were solved and all lights are secure. It is a learning experience and a period of transition as I set the way for a weekly harvest of one or more plants. Harvesting this way allows most of the plants some extra growing time, and has seen to have paid off. The final White Widow produced a black hash during trim.

The Set up is a 4*3 foot low quality home made, create for flowering and a converted book case for vegetative growth. You would have to be blind to miss them. The lights are 23 watt CFL's that put out 100watts of light each and 1600 lumen. There are a total of 13 lights in the flowering box and 8 in the veg box. Soil is MG potting mix and garden soil. Nutes are 10-52-10 MG Bloom booster with is used, but sparingly, and only once the plants have been flowered. The population is 5 females in flowering, 3 ICE 2 Mazar with one ICE pollinated for seeds production. In the veg box, I have 8 NRS Aurora Indica seeds germinating.

EDIT Yield is known. Three of the Widow plants yielded 28 grams after gifts and 21 days of smoking. I bought a diet scale for a couple bucks and calibrated it using a 1.5 ounce pack of designer coffee. I don't smoke that much, sticking with 2-3 tiny popcorn buds per day average. I'm only willing to add a 1/2 ounce. I only gifted 3 nice buds, one fresh off the vine. The yield was way lower than it looks to the naked eye. It's one of the largest ounces I've ever seen. I still find this to be worth my time, and more so knowing I'm a few weeks from my next harvest. The last plant I'm saying 3/4 ounce. It was the largest plant of the group.

I find growing my weed well worth the effort and helps me avoid the bad elements and skimming dealer. Anyone wanting to grow the bud should take into account that the harvest will look big, but it will be less than expected. It may cover the cost of what you might have spent buying buds for 3 months

EDIT 2-20

I bought a jar of Rootone. I plan on giving cloning a try some day. I also bought some supplies for a complete rebuild of my "crate". Today I got the screws and 9 eight foot 2x2's. I don't know how I'm going to get three 4x8 sheets of glossy white paneling home from the Home Supplies Store. They deliver, but then I have to plan an entire day and end up waiting 6 hours. The area is going to be wider longer and go from floor to ceiling. I'm thinking about using sliding doors. I haven't given it too much thought. I know what supplies I need for 3 walls, and go from there.

Thanks again for following along, sorry about the pictures, you can see the camera and cameraman kind of suck. And once again thanks to the crew at Yahooka for the years of coaching and information. It's surely a classic website.
