I've played an Ibanez, and Washburn acoustic, both were OK, but nothing to write home about. I think they have problems with volume, which is my main concern. Which, if you're ever going to be jamming with someone, you want to make sure you can hear each other.
You should get one of those ones that the Mariachi band uses. Just because they look cool. (Sound cool too)
No, for real, the only way you'll be able to find one is by actually playing them. I believe a lot of online vendors have a return policy so you could probably exchange a few times if it's too hard finding the left-handed basses in the store.
