I think the point Bill was trying to make is that religion is a throwback to the Ancients, and the Big Three have little if anything to do with today's culture and issues (and please don't give me the "love thy neighbor" crap, you don't need God or the Ten Commandments to be a good person) and the fact that organized religion is and always will be flawed because the people who run it are flawed.

What I got from the movie was that religion has caused more harm than good. It would be nice if everyone was quietly spiritual, but most are loud and goddamn obnoxious about it.

Millenia-old books do not have the answers for our lives. Some who read them choose to lie to themselves and believe all this bullshit is not only true, but that to not believe it is a damning offense. Anyone who says I'll burn in hell for not following Allah/Jesus/Yaweh should reread his religious text for the few actual good bits, not the fire and brimstone God hates fags rhetoric.
