irrational action and insanity don't correlate in my opinion...
I remember hearing a Berkley lecture on drugs and the psychological effects of taking them... the speaker mentioned one word for drugs (psychotropic maybe?) and explained the roots of the word, and translated them as "temporary insanity". In any case, I would think that acid or mushrooms would be a pretty good idea of what its like to be schizo.
