Well first of all it was a suggestion, suggestions are to be taken with a grain of salt given that people in different circumstances are dealing with different factors. Should I have detailed more cautions and details to follow in my giving of advice? Probably.
Second, sleep patterns are something heavily debated in the health and wellness communities. People have varying opinions on it, especially given that we all have different ideals of our operating states. Segmented sleep patterns are very common practices in wellness communities and even more so in dream consciousness and lucid dreaming communities. REM sleep has a series of different phases that happen at
various times during ones sleep patterns. It is actually what is responsible for dreaming itself. Breaking up sleep does not mean that you wont have REM, infact you can go right back into deep REM states shortly after being woken up from it. The whole reason behind compartmental sleep is to essentially play with and repress REM states so they
intensify at the next chance. Marijuana represses REM, thats why if you smoke one night before bed and dont the next night, you usually have dreams you remember. So another method to use is smoke one night and not the other. You are more than likely to experience a fair and healthy amount of REM if you give 3-4 hours of continuous sleep anyways, this is without any repression. It's
completely healthy given the time frames I listed. I would never suggest that someone who only has 7 hours to sleep breaks it up 4 times a night while having green tea in between. I also would not recommend it as a constant thing. It's all about the individual finding their personal balance. At the same time, being exposed to different ideas is
always a powerful thing. New information, new possibilities.

Never once did I personally mention anything of
over exertion. Over exertion, and exercise are two completely different forms of activity.
Coming from someone who suffers from insomnia and has for several years now, I would say that it depends on what type of insomnia the individual has and to what degree it manifests. Do they have too much physical energy... or too much mental energy? How much sleep are they getting? How often does it happen? Sometimes in some specific cases, exertion
for the result of sleep is a good method to use if it infact results in sleeping. If it does not result in sleeping (meaning it is ineffective) then they should not exert themselves because they would spreading themselves far too thin. But I mean, why do something if it proves to be ineffective? If exertion is successful than the individual would no longer have the same issues (they would be sleeping) therefore they would have more energy to take the resistance on the body from exercise. Keep in mind this whole time I never mentioned the word "over" in conjunction with "exert"...as it is not necessary.
