It's true that many movements social, religious and other wise over time have taken the mocking to heart and named themselves as such. One that stands out in my life are the Unitarians. Who were mocked for believing in the unity of God as opposed to the Trinitarians, which comprises 99% of other Christian denominations at the time and now as well. Altough I would put a disclaimer that the Unitarians have moved to a more Universal approach to spirituality, hence the merger with the Universalists. Although that was more of a finacial catalyst, they fit well nicely. The Uni now seems to stand more for Unity, as opposed to a theological stance on the Triune God.

There are plenty more.

People call me hippie all the time. I don't label myself as such or in general label myself, however I realize that alot of people are more comfortable knowing me this way. Being called a name is contextual. When a friend goes 'Whooooaaaa' after something happens, I smile and say 'what stoner?' and usually get a laugh, 'ehehheheh I did sound like a pothead just then, eh?
