man like what? that guy's whole schtick is how
he can't relate to hip hop. He's clearly confused as to what hip hop is actually all about (DJing, Rapping, Graffiti, Breaking, Beatboxing - the five pillars of hip hop culture fyi). I've seen him quoted as saying that he didn't relate to hip hop 'cuz he "didn't sell coke, didn't have guns, didn't blah blah blah". Hip hop ain't about that. Gangsta rap? Yeah, sure. Mainstream rap? Yeah sure. Hip Hop? Hell naw.
The cypher is about whatever you want it to be about. If you start rapping about suburban white shit
because you feel you can't relate to the culture or the music, you've fundamentally "failed" something which ought to be impossible to fail at (the art of making music, it ought to be a rewarding experience in and of itself, however...).
I would lump asher roth with every man/woman/child getting into hip hop right now just for the money. All very misled people.
