I mean, why was there no mention of 2012 when the millenium doomsday was imminent?
The 2000 scare was created by people of our generation based on what we had, and the 2012 dooms day is predicted by mayans based on what they had. What made the former more reliable than the latter? The fact that one comes before the other?
I'll bet if 2012 goes by without a hitch there will be another culture of people who have their own prediction which will be brought to the light of the world, thus continuing the endless cycle of fear.
That being said, I'd like to believe the prediction was more figurative than literal, a 'dooms day' of our current stream of consciousness into one of enlightenment. Again, I'd LIKE to believe...
If doomsday does happen, it's going to be when no one suspects a thing.
