Well Rev, consider this:
We live in a nearly global society that is governed by the market first and foremost. Power and influence in society is determined by profits and the ability to shape societies interests into delivering you more profits.
For example, many are convinced of the great value of oil to our society (myself included) and so the oil companies (exxon being the largest traded firm in the world) have immense power to shape the direction of society.
Profits are not important in an absolute term, but in a relative term. Which firm has made the greatest gains relative to the others. This firm has most successfully shaped our images of what is important to have/support.
What I'm trying to say, is that something like a stock market bubble is not just about numbers and money, but about society at large and our potential futures. So there may be a correltation between what your saying and what Ego is saying.
