^ not entirely true tk, water is transported via the osmotic gradient("proton pump") into the roots, then transpiration from the leaves serves to "suck" the water up the xylem toward the top of the plant. this is a passive process.

nutes, on the other hand, are ACTIVELY transported within the phloem in multiple directions to all parts of the plant, meaning the plant expends energy doing this.

im not saying it will work with pot but i think it would at least be worth some expirementation to see if the yeilds increase.
