how big of a deal would it be really for that number to skyrocket?
i think that 'number' going up for the human has less to do with brain size or mental power, and more to do with the humans situation at hand... if 150 was your community, then people who only cared for 35, did not fair well at all, because of the seriousness of the divide between belonging to that '35' and being some far far away chinese person, such persons would fall innocently into very serious violations of some of the 'social-contracts'.... i suspect the acuity with which you discern the subtleties of a single individual is where our 'big brains' came in... what im saying is that you could likely breed chimps until they had that 'importance bond' with 150 other chimps, and they wouldn't be human, and would rather be very much if not altogether.. still chimps
i suspect around the time we breed the number up to 150, is when people stopped just being a community and started being 'ruled' over by a separate community, a ruling class
making it advantageous to stick with only caring about that '150', at-least advantageous for the ruling class
i wonder if the only cause for the number not growing along with the population, was the speed at which the population had grown?
