I was under the impression that that shit only goes on your record when prosecuted.. if you go to jail, and then your case is dismissed or droped, the case doesn't go on your record.

An entry to the arrest history is made whenever an arrest is made and it will stand no matter what the outcome from the arrest is. This way, it will capture even the dropped, dismissed, reduced or acquitted cases such as fines, warnings, community work and other forms of punitive action without detention.
