Your body has to be ready for being on a bike everyday too, that's the hardest part for some people. I ride on average 15-20 miles a day every week, or else a short hard climb, it just totally depends on what I'm feeling like that day as to which way I go.

It depends on the circumstances. He said he is having trouble getting on the bike (inferred), and so for someone who is having trouble getting on the bike it might be a good idea to set up a schedule. This may not hold true to everyone, but in his case I believe he'd like to have something down so he make himself get on the bike.
