My only run ins with the HKs were in boston. In one case, a guy tried to offer me a free Bhagavad Gita. In the other, a huge group of them gathered in Harvard Square, and chanted and played drums.

They seemed pretty cool to me. (Never was there a mention of Xenu or any of that)
