I sent a copy of her email to me to my Uncle Pat, who checked it out. He had been working on my paternal genealogy about 40 years at that point. He said she is, 4th cousin.
Now that I think about it, they had some communication over it that I did not see. Uncle Pat is also a Southern Baptist Fundamentalist, and I think he tried to 'save' Loretta...and one of his sons is a Southern Baptist minister in Alabama. As a matter of fact, my grand-father started a church after the revenuers raided his still. It was across the road from his daughter and her husband and family's house, where the other still was in the back yard. So they elected my grand-father constable...but I digress.
My grandmother's log cabin (registered now I think as historic) and my father's family's land is a few miles from where Loretta lives. And my family goes back there many generations, they are one of "the old families".
