I agree. Energy cannot be created or destroyed in a closed system.
I interpreted your 'earth' to mean... dirt, "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" type stuff.
In every change in state of being, energy is spent... taken from somewhere. Molecules speed or slow and interact with one another. It's easy to imagine how the physical energy of conception occurs between egg and sperm. Beyond that becomes a little bit.... iffier.
I mean, if I paint a picture... I am creating the picture. However, I have created nothing, I have only rearranged the paint to have a different effect. The physical energy that it took to make this happen has to do with the movements of my body and perhaps firing of my neurons (and the change in various states wet to dry.. perhaps some chemical changes that seem a little irrelevant). However, there's something else involved. Inspiration, like music is that 'creative juice' that connects us to something that could be part of or beyond this earth.... all depending upon your system of internal perception and interpretation. What is it that caused the neurons to begin firing? What is it that caused me to DESIRE to paint? Behaviioralists would claim that it was based on reward and punishment. There's something inside music that is beyond the wonderful world of behaviorism and just to the left of physics.
To me, the devil exists like Santa Clause exists. Lots of people give 'him' lots of energy. He is a psychological and perhaps spiritual construct.
