...someone shouldn't have to say this to prove that they "should" be smoking herb. The kind of life you chose to live has little to nothing to do with weed, and even if it does, it doesn't matter.

I think she was trying to point out exactly what you are saying: not that she should be smoking herb, but that she has a 'successful' life (generalization here, I know) and continues to use marijuana. The fact that your quality of life and usage of marijuana don't correlate is the point she was making... I believe.
