I don't agree. You could tell it was purely VOLUNTEER ONLY. They even said it was volunteers. It's quite obvious that he didn't actually make any one do anything they didn't want to.
The people are there for 1) their belief in saving the whales(which I bet more than half of them are willing to risk their own lives to try to save whales lives; hence them being there in the first place).
and 2) they want to make the show interesting/have to.
