on a somewhat related note, my family occasionaly goes back to the bronx where my moms italian side of family grew up. arthur ave, its still famous for having amazing italian food/markets/oldskool shit.
except back in the day it was all mafia run, no crime and everything was italian run, and now its just the hood. the stores are still nice but if you step off arthur ave your in a hispanic/black ghetto. we went to the store my grandma's father used to have a candy shop and it was some broken down appliance store and i felt like everyone was staring at my family like we were some privileged ass crackers, everything is locked up and cars have smashed windows and everything has graffiti, its just weird how the place changed from what it was back in the day to essentially a ghetto where everyone is poor and doesnt give a fuck about "back in the day"
