I think in general the world is coming more democratized as a result of modern technology. In almost every country people have access to some American TV and many countries (even places like Iran, and to a limited extent, China) have access to the internet. What I expect to see is English standardizing as the universal language within 25 years or so. That's not to say other languages won't exist but I think by and large almost everyone will learn to speak English, there's just too much already on the we to overcome. Within about 50 years we'll have a good renewable enery source and will have levelled out our carbon emissions and reduced our energy needs. Probably around the same time the industrialized countries will begin to form one large alliance, prolly the G-60 or so by that point. It will have English as it's formal language and rather than exploiting smaller nations it will use it's prosperity to lift up the impoverished. Within 100 years or so there will be one large world government, with countries still existing, but being directed by the larger government kinda like states within the US now.

there wil however never be an end to terrorist attacks and they will probably gain even higher profile, as there won't be major wars.

This is all just a big guess,, and is dependant on the premise that we're able to find enough fresh water (the only truly valuable resource on the planet)

Now I know you're thinking "didn't Thoreau say 'That government governs best which governs least'"? And yes that's probably true. I think world governments will probably only interfere in our lives if it is expressly to stop us from doing harm to another individual.

Edit:the democratization process will probably lead to medium scale civil unrest in many countries with a tradition of Theocracy. For a good example of this read up on Bhutan and it's democratization, pretty surprising really.
