day 13

let me start by saying that i have killed the one plant that grew the fastest it didnt seem to be doing well. i accidently removed a leaf and may have stressed the plant futher by actually trimming the fan leafs. rookie mistake, but in the end i really dont want plants that are looking to grow tall. i plan on making two more cuts around day 30. looks like i may have a runt whitch will be an easy choice to elimnate. but the other five look pretty healthy so far.

also to stop the roots from spreading too much in the tank i have been turning the plantsabout a quarter turn in the morning and a full rotation in the middle of the day it seems to be keeping the roots from expanding too far in the tank. whitch im hoping will stunt thier growth slightly and keep things more manageable for when ive determined whitch ones are the keepers

as far as the areogarden nutrients ive found that just dropping the tablets in seems imperfect. so ive been crushing them up and dissoving them in water b4 adding them. what ive done so far is this:

day 1 - 1 small tablet (uncrushed)

day 3 - 1 small tablet (crushed)

day 7 - 2 small tablets (crushed)

day 11 - 2 small tablets (crushed)

this goes against the suggested feeding guide from the aerogarden. I did my own little research and am going on a hunch that these palnts are going to need more than what the average herb needs to grow. that said ive pretty much doubled the feeding and havent really noticed any ill effects. my hunch is based on the amount large amount of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium needed to grow this paticular plant sucessfully.

this is how i leave it most of the day. the two small fans and the cool breeze humidifier keep a constant non direct air flow on the plants.
