MISSION - An off-duty Border Patrol agent was shot at while traveling with his child.
The agent, who's from Arizona and on vacation, told officers he was followed
from Brooks County to Mission.
At one point, the other drivers boxed him in. That's when someone tapped a
pistol on his car window and fired a round into the agent's car. His child
watched from the backseat.
No one was hurt in the shooting.
Investigators are still trying to find out if the agent was targeted.
They did tell us the suspects in the shooting may be connected with a raid at a McAllen home.
Mission officers and Border Patrol SWAT teams raided the home near 26th and Lindberg streets.
NEWSCHANNEL 5 learned officers are now questioning some people of interest.
Investigators are also searching the McAllen home for evidence.
"The only thing unique in the residence thus far is a Santa Muerte shrine,"
says Mission Police Department spokesperson Jody Tittle.
The shrines can be seen clearly inside the garage.
NEWSCHANNEL 5 is working to get the very latest details in the case. We'll bring them to you as soon as they're available.
