Growing up, there were several stroies and superstitions.

Droping a fork on the ground means a guest would be expected.

Droping a spoon would me family member would come by.

Droping a knife means a death or new person with change may arrive.

Not sleeping with your shoes beside the bed.

Ghost stories of recent, night club dancer turns out to have cloven feet.

Local Highway ghosts

and bed time stroies passed down since who knows...

La Llorona (weeping woman) who drowned her "bad" kids in a near by canal,
and late at night you could here her cry out "where are my children, in a funeral death cry.

It served two purposes.

1. Kids won't wonder off at night, especially near dangerous canals.

2. historical there had to been a lady that drowned her two kids and then regreted it, namely the lady that blamed those two black guys fro killing her children in a lake.

3. Better be good kids.

But Monsters are Real.
