I think it's meant to be a converse thought of the feminine aspects, that creates a whole and balanaced view. Everything is made of elements that are more masculine or femine in a traditional sense and we all have different amounts of these compounds that make up each and all of us.

So seeing a mother on the cross could just be to juxapose the constant male influence prevelance on the part my many religions, surficially.

Or it could just mean that you have to sacrifice ALOT to me a mother/parent??
