ive been leisurely studying shamanism for a few years now. ive discovered the power of the shaman comes from him having 'one foot in each world'. In many societies shamen are people who were once 'insane' but have learned to control their mind in such a way that they use themselves as a gateway to healing for other people. The shaman uses the lessons s/he learned while healing their own mind to help and heal other people. thats why i think its b.s. the way our society kinda shuffles away all of the people who have mental 'problems'. We just convince everyone its a sickness that wont get better. but it can really be a tool.
