I don't hope for an end to the world. I hope for an end to the world as we know it, because (to me) its starting to feel stagnant and repetitive...not my life, but the collective consciousness of our species.

Perhaps it's a symptom of being (in this world, at least) a liberal, but the fuckers who continue to prevent social and cultural progress in the name of imaginary (and personal) Gods and beliefs are extrememely frustrating. And the continuation of the same "fights" that have been going on for millenia, to me, seems liek a waste of time and energy.

I do not understand why "they" are here anymore or necessary for our collective consciousness (to have an opposing force to peace, love, and understanding), as we have developed the technology to record human events. I understand the need for darkness to appreciate light. But with the ability to see darkness in the virtual world, the necessity for it in the "real" world seems out of date. In metaphor form, it seems to me that our collective consciousness has the ability to get into a fully electric car...but we seem to keep driving our Hummers...

I don't think 2012 is some sort of earth-cracking day of complete annihilation...to me (factoring in the coincidental nature of the word maya meaning illusion), it seems more like an end to a way of thinking...ushered in by a new paradigm and vision of ourselves and the universe.

Or it could just be another notch in our imaginary calendars...but one can hope...
