Time after time, these idiots go guns blazing into a crowd of people, only to kill less than a handful:

He went to the sprawling L.A. Fitness Club in this Pittsburgh suburb, turned out the lights on a dance-aerobics class filled with women, and opened fire with three guns, letting loose with a fusillade of at least 36 bullets.
He killed three women and wounded nine others before committing suicide.

Come on. I think his first mistake was turning the lights off. You can't aim what you can't see. But honestly how do you shoot 36 bullets only to kill 3 women? Only 8.3% of his bullets killed and 33% shots fired hit women, assuming there was one bullet per woman.
I imagine the women that died were possibly hit multiple times in critical areas, while the others were hit maybe once in non threatening areas (legs, arms, hands etc) so those figures are approximate.
I do find it amazing how many people survive gunshot wounds. There is a very narrow margin of living vs dying. If you get shot in the torso or head with even a moderately powered pistol you're going to die. If you're shot in the limbs, there is a very good chance that the hydrostatic shock caused by the bullet impacting your body will severe main arteries and veins.
I think this makes it
very clear that he was
not a shooting enthusiast and should not reflect on the large number of law abiding gun owners.
