Ideally you'd want an enclosed space (painted matt white or lined with mylar to utilise all the light like Stoneric said) with a fan and carbon filter to extract hot air and remove smells. If the grow space is not enclosed then smells will get out even if you do have a filter.
If you enclosed that ^ space you would need an air cooled reflector to keep heat down; I would recommend extending the frame or something to make the space a bit bigger if you are using a 400w HID.
The ryders look healthy enough. The soil looks a bit sodden. The cups do have drainage holes? Clear pots are not ideal, the roots should be hidden from light sources.
The roots you can see- I'd say you could pot that one up soon, maybe in a week- as long as they've got enough roots to hold the soil together.
