get a good lawyer, pay him well. take out a loan if you have to. it will be worth it.
do research on some prominant lawyers in your area, find out their defense records.
former crowns are key. pay them the minimal go in with them to the hearing ask for him to have the date put back a month. see how he works the room. does he talk to the crown socially? that type of thing.

spend money on it, you will be okay.
