to grow a new strain.. you do backcross.. you breed mom and pops.. then the seeds planted... now look for the charactoristics you want your new strain to have and back cross your origanal mom and pops with there babies.. a true ibl is imbred mom to daughter.. then grandma to grand daughter. and so on.. this is to be done until everything is the same.. usually around the fifth batch of seeds.. it takes a long time to stabilize.. or you have uneven growing patterns.. and random freaks in the mix..
