Sounds like you had a "Quickscreen", its exactly like a pregnancy test. The tech really has no power over the testing procedure. I may be a heavy smoker and enjoy pharm but I still remain morally ethical in my job. In my years of working the medical field I have never known anyone to pass someone cause they liked them or thought they were cute.
If the test is positive it has to go to the lab to be confirmed. The thing with the Quickscreens is there is a line that is the control line (saying its working) then if you get another line, your negative, even if its the faintest line its still negative.
Thats really the only time a tech has any ability to "help" you out. If they collect and it goes straight to the lab, the tech is just confirming the collection was according to federal regulations.
