I thought it was common knowledge by now what happens when you are competing with nations that have NO workmen's comp laws, NO overtime rules, NO health plans, NO OSHA, no enforcement of safety conditions NO unions, NO social security and NO minimum wage.
If I was a company, I'd move to N.Vietnam !
Since you can't do your own research, I'd be happy to explain. . .NAFTA opened the door to companies (factories)to go overseas by the thousands..it makes good business sense and allows the owners of these factories to have a better life.
Think about it again, NAFTA opened the door (meaning it started the trend to go to other countries) with Mexico ($1.50/hour labor).
I like to put it this way :I'm a company in the USA. I pay $9.50/hour. I pay social security (you may have noticed this on your "paycheck. You think you pay all your SS {social security}cause you see the deduction right? Actually you pay 1/2 {one half}. Your "boss" pays the other half.
Again I'm a company in the USA. I pay wages, SS, Workmans Comp (that is like an insurance policy if you have an accident at work). I pay overtime, adhere to mandated safety rules (these are federal rules which make your boss keep your workplace safe.)and other taxes and things, and if I were a "boss" I might be able to explain what they were.
Now I go to Brazil and talk to Mr. Gomez and ask him if I can build a factory there. He says yes and I can hire anyone I want. Yippee ! I can save so much money now.
Now you might say that is bad for the "boss" to go outside my town and outside my country to get cheap labor. That would be mean. But, I must tell you. That boss wants a nice big house and a Lexus and be able to go to sports games and buy nice things for his children just like you. Now imagine 1,000,000 bosses doing the same thing.
