I think though that what distinguishes this situation is that the current administration pompously tries to claim the moral high ground by claiming openness, honesty, and transparency in an effort to cut through the very behaviors they themselves are engaging in.
It's the nature of the beast and to expect anything less would be naive. There are no surprises here and there certainly isn't any "change".

i mean they really take this finely crafted message thing to the nth degree.
obama specifically wants to make this fox issue not a major issue (even tho it clearly has become one) so his choice focus tested phrase- "i just dont lose too much sleep over fox news".... perfectly bulshitingly designed to make the issue that HE made an issue not really an issue.
robert gibbs does this 20x a day at every news conference.
i guess on the one hand people dont want to be like bush and tell it like it is and tell it from the gut, but on the other hand all this meandering and focus tested phrases makes the dems and obama seem fake and phony and just as the party of poll-readers and focus groups.
