Not that I'm one for observing laws, but I'm having some trouble researching the legality of busking, specifically in southern california.

Most places I read say that in the U.S. busking is protected under free speech laws. The sources I've found say that several people have won cases challenging busking laws, and all the cases I've found where people have been prosecuted were dropped.

But Los angeles is all about the money, so it seems weird to me that they would allow buskers.

We basically just want to set up somewhere in venice/downtown/hollywood and play songs for an hour or two.

Any info at all would be appreciated.
