stoneric remember back in the day when the only thing that could possibly make people want to spend such huge amounts of money was that our nation was at war, attacked on 9/11, and that we believed that we were fighting terrorists around the world who wanted to end our existance?
that in those dire circumstances, republicans who dont like to spend taxpayers money by definition were forced to for nothing less than a war which was started by the worst attack on american soil in history ?
now in these days, the liberals take any random issue and its like ok well we better spend as much as we did fighting huge wars just to fix some random shit or to make things more "moral".... in the real world we shouldnt be spending this much money on ANYTHING ,especially when we cant afford to pay it back in any kind of reasonable time frame.... a war, and a 9/11 style attack are just about the only thing that could make people think it was ok to take the extremely dangerous step of mortgaging our future to pay for shit today...
now when people thought there would be more 9/11s and for all we know without action there may have been.... u can say that not fixing the problem is worse than spending the money and getting into debt...
can u really say the same thing about making it easier for some people to pay health care bills? so that they can go spend their disposable income on shit on tv for 19.95 instead....
so we basically went from spending money (doing a bad thing) for the best possible reason (to defend our nation once atacked and at war)....
to spending money (doing a bad thing) for the worse possible reason (some trivial nonsense about giving a healthcare kickback to people who really dont need it, rather than a much smaller spending program to help out those very very few in true dire straits and not just seeking their election 08 payout from obama and co) .
