i agree, but there's just as big a difference between slowing it down and giving it more fuel. at this point i would have fully expected posturing for an imminent invasion of iran if we wouldn't be there already, should mccain have been voted into office. there definitely would not be any debate about bending to the will of the military industrial complex and providing more fodder for profit and death. if not having realized that very reasonable potential is not evidence of the machine slowing, i'm not sure what else could be.
