it's true that scientific findings become belief systems like any other. the wonderful thing about science, though, is its ability to adapt in accordance with observation and experience. organized religion tells you "this is how it is." science tells you "this is how we see it, for now."

theories are just theories, including theories on things we take for granted such as why gravity acts in ways we observe it acting. our experience with gravitation yields our theory on how it works, so it's understandable to take it on faith until we experience or observe something different that calls our understanding into question.
