Fractals

Is anyone here into generating fractal images? I've gotten kinda into them, and I was wondering about what software is good, etc. Any advice would be welcome.

BTW, is this forum always so empty? What happened to all the threads like Turm's art thread, etc.?

I'm guessing the server crash had something to do with it, sadly.

Not to hijack your thread Rev That's a cool pic, looks like 3D. But I don't know nuthin' about creatin' them.

Apophysis 2.
If you have a desktop though, I'd do it on there, it can really overpower a laptop setup.

Here's one I did with Ultrafractal (which is a free download that works well on my antiquated machine). A first attempt, of sorts. I'm working through the tutorials.

I'm a total newb at the moment, but my goal is to be able to create 3D fractal images that suggest natural phenomena, like wood, water, and other organic types of things. I've always been fascinated by the mathematical patterns that appear in nature (phi, pi, etc.) and I want to be able to reproduce that natural feel through a purely mathematically derived art form, which fractals are.

My homage to the divine architect / engineer.

Here's two new ones I did today. They're actually the same image. I just took the simple blue one and built on it in Photoshop. (This shit is addicting )

This is beyond badass. It's a majestic imaginary world derived from nothing more than a math equation that loops back on itself. Really breathtaking.
