i built an organic light emitting diode. Ga/In eutectic cathode, [Ru(bipy)3](BF4)2 for the ETL, HTL, and EML layers, and fluorine doped TCO glass. overall not the cheapest way to build an OLED, as some of those chemicals are extremely expensive.

a dye sensitized solar cell

basically a cheap solar panel. fundamentally different from a Si-based solar cell. a mesoporous wide band gap semiconductor (anatase nanocrystalline TiO2 in this case) was prepared on a transparent conductive oxide glass plate (heavily doped with fluorine for conductivity). the TiO2 was "painted" on the TCO and the surface area was controlled by heating to 400*C and cooling slowly to room temp. this creates a mesoporous structure with very high surface area. anthrocyanin dye was extracted from frozen raspberries and chemisorbed to the TiO2. a SnO2 and SbO2 TCO glass slide was prepared and coated with graphite. these two layers were sandwiched together and the I-/I3- electrolyte redox couple was added by capillary action. the result was a crude solar cell which absorbs most visible light (depends on the semiconductor and the nature of the dye/sensitizer chosen).

Thanks! I'm trying to remember what the stone actually is but the name escapes me atm...

Here's a new piece I've been working on. I'm a bit of a dead space fan and our assignment this week was to do a 1" x 2" reposse piece to acquire the skill. I did a bit of annealing to it as well.

Not every weekend, because I'd get burnt out on it. Some seasons are busier than others, specifically spring and fall. I attempt to find a perfect balance where I'm keeping myself busy, but not TOO busy. I wish you could come with me to some of my shows!

Ok it's been a busy Monday morning! I started work on a new pendant for part of my final project. I don't know what the stone is (however I'm heading to the stone shop this week to find get some more like it as well as to find out what this one and the white stone on the ring above are.) Stay posted, here's a few pics of the rough work. This weekend I'm going to tie up a nice dainty hemp necklace for this pendant.

The one in the pendant looks like agate, and I'm pretty sure the white stone is howlite.

^very nice. I like the skeleton.

If It's on a piece of wood I would be worried about the paint running when you poly it.

I thought it looked rather transparent for paint. I'd like to see it once finished.
