you actually dont even have to take multiple pictures. there are alot of software packages that will do the dynamics for you, based on a single image.

edit: photmatix is one, im still waiting on my friend. these are pics he did, not the greatest pics ever, but i think they are good examples of hdr

I got photomatrix.. but it is the free version and stamps it..

I need to try and keep the camera more still when I shoot.. but you have to go through the settings on my camera to change the exposure each time..

That's a poster or smething right?

It would work better if you did it on a surface with nooks and crannies so you'll really get the shadows and highlights out.

Ok, but it's just a "2d" surface. I dunno. I guess it shouldn't matter since photo software should treat your blacks and highlights the same as if it where a pic of a scenery.

Maybe you where right the first time around, you kinda suck at doing it right.

Yes, but that isn't an HDR, that's just a Tone Mapped image, very different. A true HDR IS multiple images because it captures all the data that is achieved by taking over and under exposed shots. Without that data, you're just filling the gaps.

That's like saying a digital zoom is the same as having a larger lens...it's not, a digital zoom just blows up the image like you would on a computer when zooming in (spreads pixels apart).

It takes a certain skill set to capture multiple exposures (at least three to as many as eight or ten) of a scene and still retain clarity and composure.
