Wow, thats right up there with that Niagara Falls power plant hike I posted awhile back. I dig this shit, there are photos of entire Russian towns like this, just abandoned.

Fuckin' creepy but very inviting in zombie hunting kind of way.

China has 64 million empty apartments currently. There are entire cities with skyscraper condos that are completely empty. Pretty crazy stuff.

China just keeps building new cities and random shit because of economic growth and all that. Gonna cause a huge problem for them economically in the future.

Largest mall in the world, empty.
Ghost mall: The world's largest (and loneliest) shopping centre | Mail Online

Quote:
Around 500 new malls have been built in China over the last five years.
All of them are said to be waiting for the arrival of the middle class, with China the largest growing economy in the world before the recent global recession.

Edit: while china has those 64 million empty apartments, there is also a huge population of people (the majority) who cannot afford those apartments and live in poverty, working all the time. :/ china sucks

Empty apartments and homeless people to fill them is not JUST a Chinese issue, FYI.
It DOES suck though.

Too much post production, selective coloring all looks shitty and the captions were melodramatic. I mean, the place already looks good and fucked up no need to adjust it in a computer program.

He could have done better focusing on documentary type photos I think. Just don't read each caption.

I know this is a minority opinion, but given what we know about rising sea levels, how does it even make sense to rebuild ANYTHING there?

It's all going to happen again and again, more and more frequently.

having worked for several carnival companies and at one ride repair/restore shop, I'd have to say some of those rides are totally restorable.

that wave swinger alone is worth saving, as the hydraulic motors are all sealed, and located in the top...pumps are probably still functional too. And the scenery is all fibreglass.

some of the photos are just black ? taken down ?

great post tho

seems to me the most damage was from vandalism.

the last ride I moved was the same one in the attached pictures. It was bought from Kennywood and made "moveable" by my boss (a mechanical engineer) and show owner. It took 3 semi trailers to hold all the parts, and took a minimum of 14 hours to build (10 hours to tear down).

There are 16 cars capable of holding 2 passengers each making the maximum capacity 32 riders. Theoretically this ride can thrill a maximum of 900 riders per hour.

The entire ride weighs approximately 29 tons. (3 ton of "base" was added to make it portable)

The outer diameter of the ride is approximately 21 meters.

The absolute top speed is approximately 75 mph (120 km/h), but it is typically run at 40 mph (64 km/h) in most parks.
